A method for operating an inverter-charger combined device for an electric vehicle according to an embodiment of the present invention includes the steps of: checking whether a charging switch and a CAN communications module are used; determining the operation mode of an inverter by using a first table if the charging switch and the CAN communications module are used as a checking result; determining the operation mode of the inverter by using a second table if only the charging switch is used as the checking result; determining the operation mode of the inverter by using a third table if only the CAN communications module is used as the checking result; and determining the operation mode of the inverter by using a fourth table if the charging switch and the CAN communications module are not used as the checking result.
