摘要 A method and apparatus for reconstructing an image by generating a scatter-corrected sinogram are provided. In the reconstructed image in which initial scattering is not corrected, an emission position of a photon is determined. A graphics processing unit (GPU) calculates migration of the photon using a Monte-Carlo simulation. A 3-dimensional (3D) line of response (LoR) may be calculated through a position in which the photon reaches a detector. The calculated LoR may be converted into a 3D sinogram form and stored in a prompt sinogram and a scatter-corrected sinogram. A final scatter-corrected sinogram may be generated by adjusting a scale of the scatter-corrected sinogram.

An image reconstruction method comprising: receiving an actual sinogram generated by measuring an object; performing a Monte-Carlo simulation with respect to emission positions in which gamma-rays are generated in the object, the Monte-Carlo simulation performed in parallel per emission position of photons using a graphics processing unit (GPU), wherein the GPU calculates migration of two photons generated in each emission position using the Monte-Carlo simulation and calculates positions of two detectors, that is, coordinates of the two detectors of when the two photons respectively reach the two detectors, and values changed during the migration, that is, the values changed as the two photons respectively pass through an object and migrate; generating a gamma-ray scatter sinogram in which gamma-ray scattering is corrected based on information related to scattered photons generated by the Monte-Carlo simulation; and generating a reconstructed image based on the scatter-corrected sinogram.
