A pharmaceutical composition comprising a drug substance consisting essentially of polymorphic racemic-methylphenidate stearylamine pamoate wherein said racemic-methylphenidate stearylamine pamoate has an endothermic phase change of at least 15 J/g at a temperature above 50° C.; an endothermic phase change of at least 10 J/g at a temperature of above 90° C.; an endothermic phase change of at least 2 J/g at a temperature above 105° C.; an endothermic phase change of at least 4 J/g at above 155° C. and an endothermic phase change of at least 20 J/g above 180° C.
