A camera has three modes of operation: continuous exposure wherein shutter operation and film winding alternately take place as long as operating button 35 is depressed; single frame exposure wherein a single shutter operation is effected, but film winding does not take place until button 35 is released; and bulb exposure wherein the shutter remains open as long as button 35 is depressed and upon release of the button the shutter closes and film winding takes place. Continuous exposure. Initially switches S 1-9 are in the positions shown in Fig.1. On depressing button 35 switch S 3 is closed to start a motor M, which through gears 5-7, 26, 28, 30 drives rings 2, 19 and plates 8, 9. A flange 20 on ring 19 engages a pin 24 on a lever 22 to pivot lever 22. This operates a shutter release pin 23 and also disengages gears 7 and 26. Upon shutter release (which is automatically controlled by means not shown) on switch S 7 closes and a switch S 6 opens. At the same time, a ball 10 enters a recess 9a in plate 9 so that members 8, 19, 2 are moved left by a spring 4 causing a lever 18 to change a switch S 2 to contact b. Motor M is thus short circuited through switches S 2 b, S 7 and S 9 . When the shutter has closed S 6 is closed and S 7 opened switching on M which, through gears 5, 6, 7, plate 9 and ratchet 16, 17 drives a film winding shaft 13. Ring 19 rotates allowing pin 24 of lever 22 to enter a recess 21 moving lever 22 anti-clockwise and allowing return of pin 23. Film is wound on until plate 9 is topped by a member (not shown). Plate 8 rotates and ball 10 leaves the recess 9a pushing plate 8 to the right to return the components to their original positions including changing S 2 back to contact a . The whole process then repeats as long as button 35 is depressed. Single Frame Exposure. A button 37 is pressed to charge S 1 to contact S. The process occurs as above except that, when the shutter has closed, S 6 closes and S 7 opens, but M is still de-energized since S 1 is out of contact with C and S 4 is held open by button 35. On releasing the button film winding is effected. Bulb Exposure. Buttons 37, 38 are pressed to charge S 1 to S, close S 8 and open S 9 . The automatic shutter control circuit is also disabled. When the shutter has been opened by pin 23 M is short-circuited through S 2 b, S 8 , S 1 S and S 5 until button 35 is released to open S 5 . M is then started to return pin 23, which closes the shutter, and to start film winding. To ensure that pin 23 closes the shutter prior to film winding a resistor R may be included in the circuit.
