A recording apparatus comprising: an ink jet recording head, wherein a manifold extending through a protection substrate and a flow path forming substrate and having a reservoir and a communication chamber in which an ink flows, and a plurality of ink flow paths divided from the manifold and arranged in a first direction are formed in the ink jet recording head, the reservoir, communication chamber and the ink flow paths having one dimension that is the same; a nozzle opening portion which discharges the ink flowing from the manifold is formed in the ink flow path; wherein a nozzle number for the nozzle opening portion is equal to or more than 360 openings per inch, when a maximum area is Cl and a minimum area is C2 in a cross section of the ink flow path including the first direction and a vertical direction, except a cross section including the nozzle opening portion, the Cl is more than once and equal to or less than 3.5 times the C2; a length of the longest line segment is equal to or more than 30 μm and equal to or less than 80 μm among the line segments parallel to the first direction in the cross section of the ink flow path including the first direction and the vertical direction; the ink contains a flaky pigment; and the flaky pigment has an average thickness of equal to or more than 5 nm and equal to or less than 20 nm and a 50% average particle diameter of an equivalent circle diameter of equal to or more than 0.5 #m and equal to or less than 2.1 μm.
