<p>Large motor vehicles such as long-haul tractor trailers, buses and the like have large wheels (11) that present deep, generally cylindrical cavities formed in the wheels. These wheel cavities create drag, adversely affecting fuel efficiency. The disclosed method and device (10) closes or otherwise covers the wheel cavity on the wheels of such vehicles for streamlining, decorating, or for advertising display. An attachment system (12) can be manually accessed through a zippered opening (15) through the device. The attachment system has a loop of resilient wire (21) attached to a flexible, preferably textile connection (19) to the cover portion (13). The user pulls the loop (21) through and past a reduced diameter boss or drop center (30), then closes the zipper (15) to close the wheel cavity to hold the cover portion centered on the wheel adjacent to the outer mounting rim.</p> |
