Adjustable read time for memory

A method includes initiating a read process for a memory array of an electronic memory device to make data available at an I/O buffer of the electronic memory device for access by a controller. A method includes signaling completion of a read process prior to completion of one or more stages of the read process at a memory array.

1. An electronic memory device controller comprising:
an input/output (I/O) interface configured to couple the controller to an I/O buffer of an electronic memory device, wherein the electronic memory device comprises a memory array with a plurality of memory elements; a read module coupled to the I/O interface, wherein the read module is configured to request a read operation for data from the memory array of the electronic memory device; and wherein the read module is configured to initiate a transfer of the data from the I/O buffer prior to completion of one or more stages of the read operation for the data on the electronic memory device.
