A technique for coupling guided radiofrequency electromagnetic waves with free-space radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation comprises providing a plurality of coaxial waveguides, each for guiding TE11 mode of a respective band of wavelengths coupled from the free-space radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation, wherein the coaxial waveguides are separated by one or more walls running substantially parallel to an axis of the coaxial waveguides; providing a single, mechanically continuous, excitation structure having a conductive segment in each coaxial waveguide, the conductive segment dimensioned and shaped to couple radiation of the respective band associated with the respective coaxial waveguide, by passing the excitation structure through the one or more walls separating the coaxial waveguides; and electrically coupling the conductive segments of the excitation to a transmission line. A stand-alone antenna, or a feed of an antenna, is provided.
