Mobile apparatus for recognizing a music score image and control method thereof

Disclosed are a mobile terminal capable of enhancing accuracy in recognizing a music score using a preview image and a control method thereof. The mobile terminal comprises: a camera module which takes images; an image processing unit which captures one image included in preview images inputted by the camera module, checks whether a region with staff lines exists in the captured image, and senses the gradient of the staff lines if the region with the staff lines exists; and a control unit which compares the gradient of the staff line with a previously stored reference gradient and determines that the image is horizontal if a difference between the two gradients is less than or equal to a threshold to allow automated photographing. Thus, recognition of score images can be improved.
