Disclosed are a cleaning robot for a ship and methods for attaching and recovering the same to and from the outer wall of a hull. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the cleaning robot for a ship comprises: a body; a propeller having a first propeller mounted on the rear end of the body, and having a second propeller mounted on the top of the body; a drive wheel moving the body on the outer wall of a hull; a brush installed on the lower side of the body so that foreign matters can be cleaned out of the outer wall of a hull; and an attaching unit, wherein the attaching unit includes: a first support shaft having a first magnetic body installed on the end thereof and having an electromagnet allowing the first magnetic body to be attached to the outer wall of a hull by a magnetic force; a second support shaft connected to a second magnetic body attached to the front end of the body; and a hinge part having the first and second support shafts installed on both sides thereof to allow rotation. The cleaning robot according to the present invention is capable of being attached to the outer wall of a hull conveniently, and is capable of being recovered efficiently after finishing a cleaning work.
