PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission member and a manufacturing method of the same and an optical multiplexer, a light source unit using these, an illumination device, and an image projection device in which a reduction in size can be achieved, and two or more light beams can be multiplexed with low light loss to provide multiplexed light with a uniform intensity distribution of light for each wavelength on the surfaces of cores on an emission part and/or projection image.SOLUTION: There is provided an optical transmission member that includes: a first core 1 and a second core 2 through which light propagate, where the second core 2 has a low refractive index than that of the first core 1; a connection part at which a part of lateral faces substantially parallel to the respective optical axes of the first core 1 and second core 2 start contact with each other; and substantially parallel extension parts 18 in which the first core 1 and second core 2 extend in the substantially one direction from the connection part 16. Also provided are a manufacturing method of the optical transmission member and an optical multiplexer, a light source unit using these, an illumination device, and an image projection device. |
