Disclosed are an insulation structure for an LNG cargo tank and a method for connecting the insulation structure. The insulation structure for an LNG cargo tank of the present invention comprises: a plurality of second insulation panels spaced and arranged; a plurality of first insulation panels arranged on the upper portion of the second insulation panels; and a barrier arranged between the second insulation panels and the first insulation panels in an airtightness state. As a metal strip is arranged in an outer wall of the upper portion of the second insulation panels and in an outer wall of the lower portion of the first insulation panels, the upper portion of the second insulation panels and the barrier are welded and connected through the metal strip and the lower portion of the first insulation panels and the barrier are welded and connected through the metal strip.
