PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce false recognition and improve recognition speed in general object recognition.SOLUTION: An information processing apparatus includes: capturing means capturing an image of an object obtained by imaging means; similarity calculating means calculating a similarity indicating how collation data extracted from the object image obtained by the imaging means is similar to collation data on each object stored in a dictionary storing therein collation data on each object while associating the collation data with identification information on each object; determining means confirming the imaged object or selecting candidates of the object according to a plurality of conditions provided stepwise for the calculated similarity; and voice recognition means recognizing an utterance content of an operator by comparing a voice recognition result generated from a voice signal input via a microphone with a language dictionary storing therein various types of words. The similarity calculating means narrows down the collation data on objects stored in the dictionary according to the utterance content of the operator, if the utterance content of the operator is recognized.
