PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source for lighting which inhibits a lead wire from being broken by a circuit cover.SOLUTION: A light source for lighting includes: a long housing 20; a first base 50 made of a metal; a substrate 11 disposed on the first base 50; an LED 12 disposed on the substrate 11; a lighting circuit 80 disposed on the first base 50; a connector wire 90 led out from the lighting circuit 80; and a circuit cover 85 which is formed so as to cover the lighting circuit 80 and is made of an insulation material. The first base 50 includes a first wall part 51 and a second wall part 52 which sandwich the substrate 11. The circuit cover 85 includes a first sandwiching part 851 which sandwiches a first wall part 51 and a second sandwiching part 852 which sandwiches a second wall part 52. A cutout part 852c is formed in the second sandwiching part 852. The cutout part 852c is cut out along a longitudinal direction of the housing 20 and toward a direction that moves away from the lighting circuit 80.
