<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sheet supply unit 125 for preventing occurrence of a sheet jam, without slowing down a print speed drastically.SOLUTION: A sheet supply unit 125 includes: lift plate control means 403 for lifting a lift plate 601 of a sheet supply cassette 116 until a pickup roller 117 corresponding to a sheet supply cassette 116 contacts with a topmost portion of sheets P placed on the lift plate, when the sheet supply cassette 116 is attached; determination means 404 for determining whether a multi-function machine 100 is engaged in printing using a sheet P in the sheet supply cassette 116, when the pickup roller 117 contacts with the topmost portion of the sheets P; and brake control means 406 for applying braking to the lift plate 601 if the multi-function machine 100 is engaged in printing as a result of the determination, and applying no braking to the lift plate 601 if the multi-function machine 100 is not engaged in printing.</p> |
