PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for executing an EPC gateway user plane.SOLUTION: The apparatus includes: a configurator configuring a plurality of components to be respectively operated as packet processing units (PPUs) for respectively executing a PGW user plane function or an integrated PGW and SGW user plane function for a certain number of parallel sessions called as bearers; a downlink switch for mapping IP traffic from an external packet data network (PDN) into a certain specific PPU; and an uplink switch for mapping GPRS tunnel protocol (GTP) traffic into a certain specific PPU. The configurator configures the PPUs, the uplink switch and the downlink switch so that the uplink traffic and the downlink traffic concerned with a specific bearer are routined through a certain specific PPU.
