[Also in Division B5] In a rotary wire brush of end, cup or wheel form, the tips of the bristles 10 are located in uniformly distributed indentations, in part 6 of the removable end plate 4 of a mould, formed in the upper part of the space between the members 1, 7, while elastomeric material, filling the mould space, is cured. Plate 4 is assembled with the mould by driving wedge 15 through slot 16, in the head of bolt 13. Shallow slots 19 enable gases to escape and receive any flash produced during curing. A polyurethane elastomer may be formed in the mould by reacting toluene diisocyanate with polyester or polyether, in the presence of a small quantity of water to produce slight foaming, by release of carbon dioxide, formed on cross-linking the polyurethane chains. Foamed epoxy resin or vinyl plastisol may alternatively be used. Uncured natural or synthetic rubbers may be softened by heat, so that they flow into the spaces between the bristles, but not necessarily reaching the hub 8 of the brush and caused to foam, while being cured, by the addition of a blowing compound.
