The present invention relates to: a composition for diagnosing muscle inflammation including a medicine which measures the level of miR-494; a kit for diagnosing muscle inflammation including the composition; a method for providing information to diagnose muscle inflammation comprising a step of measuring the level of miR-494; and a method for screening a medicine for preventing or treating muscle inflammation comprising a step of screening a material which can degrade the level of miR-494. The miR-494 provided in the present invention can be used as a diagnosis marker of muscle inflammation causing insulin resistance involved when muscle inflammation occurs, thereby being used for effectively diagnosing and treating muscle inflammation.
