PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate penalty simply without performing data demodulation, by performing the modeling while taking account of the frequency characteristics of a linear equalizer in a receiver, in a digital coherent optical transmission system.SOLUTION: A product F(ω) of the frequency characteristics of a linear equalizer for compensating the frequency characteristics and signal deterioration of an optical node is given, as known information, to a known information input section 141. A penalty calculating section 142 applies such a model as the product F(ω) of the frequency characteristics of a linear equalizer for compensating the frequency characteristics and signal deterioration of an optical node has certain characteristics, and the penalty due to linear signal deterioration is calculated, on the basis of the product F(ω) of the frequency characteristics of an optical node inputted as the known information and the frequency characteristics of a linear equalizer. |
