PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a wavelength-tunable laser, which can eliminate highly accurate temperature control in performing griddles control.SOLUTION: A method for controlling a wavelength-tunable laser includes: inputting information specifying an oscillation wavelength; acquiring a driving condition for oscillation at a first wavelength from a memory, the driving condition including a value specifying the wavelength characteristics of an etalon; referring a control value of the wavelength characteristics of the etalon and a difference between the first wavelength and a second wavelength to calculate a control value of the wavelength characteristics of the etalon for oscillation at the second wavelength; giving the control value of the wavelength characteristics of the etalon to the wavelength-tunable laser to control a wavelength so that a result of wavelength detection becomes a first target value; inputting information indicating an amount of a wavelength shift from the specified oscillation wavelength; calculating a result of wavelength detection as a second target value when a wavelength is shifted by an amount equivalent to an input wavelength shift amount; and controlling a wavelength so that a result of wavelength detection becomes the second target value.
