1,162,341. Battery activation indicator. JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd. Jan. 3, 1967 [Jan.21, 1966], No.2817/66. Heading G1U. [Also in Division H1] An indicator for use in an alkaline battery of the kind which is activated by adding electrolyte stored in a separate container comprises in combination first and second terminals for connection to a D. C. supply separate from the battery, third and fourth terminals for connection to the battery, or to selected cells thereof, a diode and a fusible link connected in series across the third and fourth terminals, and an indicating device and a resistor connected in series with the fusible link across the first and second terminals, the arrangement being such that, in use before the battery is activated, current flows from the first and second terminals through the fusible link without fusing the link, but when the battery is activated the current from the battery fuses the link. In the exemplified embodiment the indicating device 18 is a milliammeter which ceases to indicate a current when the battery 10 becomes activated causing the fusible link 16 to break. |
