PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing platinum fine particles, which is simple and needs little amount of chemicals, and to provide an apparatus for producing the same.SOLUTION: An apparatus for producing platinum fine particles comprises: a platinum ion reducing apparatus 10 which generates platinum ion-reducing electron donors in a platinum ion-containing solution by oxidizing or forming radicals of an alcohol added to the platinum ion-containing solution by a photocatalytic reaction caused by ultraviolet irradiation, and which reduces the platinum ions by the electron donors to form platinum fine particles in the platinum ion-containing solution; and a filtration apparatus 60 which filters the platinum fine particle-containing solution discharged from the platinum reducing apparatus 10. The platinum ion reducing apparatus includes: a reactor 20 which stores the platinum ion-containing solution; a photocatalyst-adhering member 30 disposed in the reactor 30 having a photocatalyst adhered on a carrier surface; and an ultraviolet light irradiation device 40 which irradiates the photocatalyst-adhering member 30 in the reactor 20 with ultraviolet light. |
