The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and a method for controlling the same, and more specifically, to a mobile terminal which is synchronized with an external device and seamlessly executes the same function that has been executed on the external device, and a method for controlling the same. The method for controlling the mobile terminal related to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: establishing a data path with an external device; receiving application execution information of the external device from the external device; displaying a lock screen corresponding to the application execution information of the application on a touch-screen; and executing a first application if the lock screen is released to correspond to the first application included in the application execution information.
