Provided is a method for producing levulinic acid using a solid acid catalyst under an ethylene glycol-based solvent condition. The levulinic acid of the present invention uses a linear or cyclic ethylene glycol-based compound as a solvent, and the levulinic acid can be produced from fructose at a reaction temperature of 100 to 200°C under a solid acid catalyst. Accordingly, dependence on petroleum can be reduced, and greenhouse gas regulations can be dealt with. Moreover, levulinic acid can be obtained from fructose at a high yield, and a solvent and a catalyst can be effectively separated, collected, and re-used after the reaction is finished. |
