The unit (1) has a base plate (10) presenting a set of traverse openings (12), and adapted for passage of an air flow (F12). A light source is attached with the base plate, and a fixing unit (16) is attached for fixation of the unit with a ceiling of a room to be illuminated. The light source includes a set of LEDs (14) that is arranged in a peripheral region of a plate intended to form the base plate. The plate includes a central region in which the openings are arranged. A diffuser (22) is arranged to diffuse light emitted by the LEDs.
