The frequency of AC voltage applied to the active electrode and passive electrode of a power transmitting device is swept, and the input impedance (input voltage (DCV)) when viewing the power receiving device side from a DC-AC inverter circuit is detected at every change of the frequency of the AC voltage. It is determined whether or not the input voltage (DCV) detected at a first frequency (region (A)) is included in the range of 250 to 450 mV, said first frequency being determined by the resonant frequencies of the series resonant circuit of the power transmitting device and the parallel resonant circuit of the power receiving device. It is also determined whether or not the input voltage (DCV) detected at a second frequency (region (B)) is 100 mV or less. When each of the determination results is true, it is determined that the condition is satisfied under which power is to be transmitted. This provides a power transmitting device capable of appropriately determining the start of power transmission, a wireless power transmission system, and a power transmission discrimination method. |
