An electrochemical process includes: applying an electrical current from a power supply to an electrically-conductive article to selectively strip at least a part of a coating; receiving a plurality of measured electrical current values, wherein the plurality of electrical current values define a current-time profile; identifying a cross point on the current-time profile based at least in part on the plurality of measured electrical current values; calculating a desired total stripping time based at least in part on the identified cross point and a constant defining a desired stripping depth of the coating; and terminating the supply of the electrical current upon the determining that the calculated desired total stripping time has been met.
