This invention provides an electric brake device that makes it possible to minimize actuation noises without compromising the device's function as a brake. Said electric brake device is provided with a brake disk, brake pads, an electric motor (2), a linear-motion mechanism, and a control device (9). A vehicle-speed detection means (44) that detects the speed of the vehicle is also provided, and the control device (9) is provided with the following: a motor-rotational-speed control unit (40) that controls the rotational speed of the electric motor (2); and a vehicle-speed-linked rotational-speed limitation means (41) whereby as the vehicle speed detected by the vehicle-speed detection means (44) in a no-load state decreases, said no-load state being one in which there is a clearance between the brake pads and the brake disc, a rotational speed to which the electric motor (2) is limited by the motor-rotational-speed control unit (40) in said no-load state is reduced correspondingly. |
