The invention relates to a method for transmitting error information in a pulse signal (40), said signal being designed to transmit measured values (12) from a sensor (10) that are frequency modulated with pulses (42) having a first magnitude (50) to a receiver (18). The method comprises: recognition of an error (53) in the sensor (10); and introduction of a pulse (52) having a second magnitude (56) which is different from the first magnitude (50) into the pulse signal (40), in order to indicate the recognized error (53) in said pulse signal (40).
