The present invention relates to an apparatus for preventing damages to an impeller of a pump which prevents damages to an impeller and a driving motor by impact mitigation when foreign substance introduced during a pumping work collides with an impeller disposed in a pump for transferring pulpy inert matter such as sludge including solid matter or waste or the foreign substance is stuck between the impeller and casing while being transferred in a sewage treatment facility or an excreta treatment facility. To achieve the above objective, the apparatus for preventing damages to an impeller of a pump includes a pump formed of an inlet absorbing fluid including sludge; an impeller rotating to discharge the sludge and the fluid inserted through the inlet to the outside; a main shaft transferring a rotary force of the driving motor to the impeller; a discharge duct discharging the sludge and the fluid to the outside in accordance with the rotation of the impeller; and a casing surrounding the impeller and forming the inlet and the discharge duct, wherein an impact absorber is additionally installed between the main shaft and the impeller to enable the impeller to absorb the impact when the foreign substance collides with the impeller. According to the present invention, the impact applied to the impeller is absorbed by the impact absorber installed between the main shaft and the impeller even if relatively hard foreign substance is mixed and introduced when fluid including sludge is absorbed by the pump. Therefore, both the impeller and the driving motor can be protected.
