The present invention relates to a backward wave oscillator in a communication system. The present invention includes a waveguide formed with metal material. The unit structure of the waveguide includes: an upper plate; a disconnection stub; a lower plate which is separated at regular intervals with the upper plate and of which the disconnection stub is formed in the center; a first metal pillar which connects an upper plate of a first port to be located on one side based on the disconnection stub and a lower plate of a second port to be located on the opposite side of the first port; and a second metal pillar which is separated from the first metal pillar and connects the upper plate of the second port and the lower plate of the first port.
