PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material melting apparatus having a screw disposed in an inner hole of a heating cylinder, and which is capable of optimally supporting the heating cylinder.SOLUTION: A material melting apparatus 11 has a screw 22 disposed in an inner hole 12a of a heating cylinder 12. The material melting apparatus 11 includes: a heating cylinder support device 18 to be secured to a heating zone 12c of the heating cylinder 12; and a receiving member 19 that is disposed at a certain position below the heating zone 12c of the heating cylinder 12 and supports the heating cylinder support device 18. The heating cylinder support device 18 is brought into contact with different portions in a front-back direction of the receiving member 19 as the heating cylinder 12 is moved forward and backward.
