The present invention relates to a binder comprising calcium sulfoaluminate (CSA) cement and a magnesium compound, to a method of enhancing strength development and/or increasing compressive strength of building structures from CSA binders and to the use of magnesium compounds as additives for increasing compressive strength of hydrated CSA binders wherein the magnesium compound is chosen from - low (300 to < 750 °C) to middle (750 to 1100 °C) burnt MgO, - magnesium hydroxide - magnesium salts of inorganic acids, preferably sulfate (e.g. MgSO4 or K2Mg2(SO4)3), chloride, nitrate, hydrogencarbonate or MgCO3 wH2O with w ranging from 1 to 3, xMgCO3-yMg(OH)2 zH2O with x ranging from 1 to 4, y ranging from 0.5 to 2 and z ranging from 0 to 5 - magnesium salts of organic acids, preferably formiate or acetate - an amorphous magnesium compound (e.g. based on Mg(OH)2, MgO, MgCO3 zH2O, magnesium silicate hydrates or mixtures thereof) - SCM rich in MgO, i.e. with a content of MgO > 10 % by weight - mixtures of two or more of the foregoing. |
