PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a positive electrode active material which enables the increase in water resistance without sacrificing a battery performance originally brought about by the positive electrode active material, and enables the suppression of gelation of a paste-like composition for positive electrode mixture layer formation.SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a positive electrode active material for nonaqueous electrolyte secondary batteries comprises: a mixing step for preparing a mixture including carbon fine particles, an organic dispersant, a hydrophobic coating-film forming agent, an organic solvent and positive electrode active material particles; a drying step for drying the mixture into a mixture, of which the content of the organic solvent is reduced; and a thermal treatment step for performing a thermal treatment on the mixture reduced in the content of the organic solvent to produce the coated positive electrode active material. In the mixing step, the mixture is prepared after previously mixing up the carbon fine particles, the organic dispersant, the hydrophobic coating-film forming agent, and at least part of the organic solvent, otherwise previously mixing up the carbon fine particles, the organic dispersant, and at least part of the organic solvent to produce a carbon-containing composition. |
