PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for protecting a vulnerable road use from a collision with a vehicle.SOLUTION: A range map of a visual scene is generated by a stereo vision and a cooperative image processing system, objects which are outside a field of interest and are not be feasible to collide with vehicles are removed by a filter, and also a road surface is removed. Objects clustered to a range bin are separated by a segmentation. A composite range map is generated by a principal components algorithm, and the generated composite range map is processed by a connected-components sieve filter. A standard is generated for classification by a combination of inclusive, exclusive and harmonic networks, using one or a plurality of harmonic profiles and other characteristics, and a recognition processor is used to determine an object. |
