<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can shorten time from the start of an operation for detecting skew with respect to a transportation direction of a medium until the recording start onto the medium in a case where the skew is not detected.SOLUTION: For detecting skew with respect to the transportation direction of paper P transported to a recording part 28, a carriage 18 is moved to a first position in a scan direction and the paper P is transported in this state. When the tip in the transportation direction of the paper P is detected by a second sensor 75, the carriage 18 is moved to a second position separated by a prescribed movement distance from the first position in a direction in which the second sensor 75 ceases to detect the tip. Then, the paper P is transported until the second sensor 75 comes to detect the tip of the paper P at the second position, and skew of the paper P is detected on the basis of the transportation distance and the prescribed movement distance.</p> |
