[Problem] To improve print processing speed over the entire print surface of a print media in a printer for thermal printing of the print media. [Solution] In print processing of a label (PL), the transfer speed at a print area (SW) where a barcode or the like is to be printed is set to be slower than a standard transfer speed, and the transfer speed at a blank space area (SY) that has a length greater than a predetermined length in the transfer direction (F) among the blank space is set to be faster than the standard transfer speed. The transfer speed at a print area (NW) where characters, symbols, or the like are to be printed and the transfer speed at a blank space area (NY) that has a length smaller than the predetermined length in the transfer direction (F) are set to the standard transfer speed. This improves the print processing speed over the entire print surface of the label (PL) in the printer for thermal printing of the label (PL).
