<p>The sewing machine is provided with: needle plate (40) in which a needle hole (411, 421) through which the sewing needle (11) is inserted is formed; a feed mechanism (60) that serves as a movement mechanism for moving a workpiece along the upper surface of the needle plate (40); a vertical needle movement mechanism (30) for performing vertical movements of the sewing needle (11); a shuttle mechanism (50) for catching the upper thread (U) from the sewing needle (11) below the needle plate (40) and interlacing with the lower thread (D); a thread-cutting device (80) provided between the needle plate (40) and the shuttle mechanism (50) for cutting the lower thread (D) and the upper thread (U); a wiper mechanism (90) for drawing out the sewing needle-side portion (U1) of the upper thread (U), which has been cut by the thread-cutting device (80), to the upper side of the workpiece; a control device (120); and a residual end-excising mechanism (100), which is disposed below the upper surface of the needle plate and above the thread-cutting device. The residual end-excising mechanism excises the residual ends of the lower thread and upper thread that extend from the workpiece after thread-cutting by the thread-cutting device. The residual ends of the upper thread and lower thread are thereby shortened.</p> |
