The present invention provides a portable terminal control method for improving the ease of input by a user, a recording medium having saved thereon a program for implementing same, an application distribution server, and a portable terminal, the portable terminal control method comprising the steps of: displaying a character layout window on the edge of a display region; and considering a corresponding character to have been inputted among the characters included in the character layout window if a touch occurs in a part of the display region, on which the character layout window is not displayed.
