APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR COLOR CORRECTION OF STEREO IMAGES USING LOCAL CORRESPONDENCE

The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for color correction of a stereo image. According to the present invention, the method comprises: receiving stereo images having different colors from each other; finding corresponding points which are pixels corresponding to each other by analyzing local images between both images based on the black and white images formed by excluding color information from the received stereo images; and correcting a color signal of an image to be corrected among the stereo images using a color signal of a corresponding point found in the other image. As a result, a more accurate disparity map can be calculated with regard to a stereo image whose luminance and chrominance are locally different, a distance from a subject can be accurately measured, a viewer can watch a stereo image without difficulty in recognizing a three-dimensional image, and performance degradation caused by color differences between stereo images by using various existing stereo image technologies can be resolved.
