FATTY ACID BLEND AND ITS USE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blend oil or a fatty acid which contains 50% or more medium-chain fatty acids or their alkyl esters and has a low melting point.SOLUTION: A blend is useful as a fuel or e.g. a starting material for production of biodiesels. A gene-recombination or modified plant which is modified so as to increase the amount of medium-chain fatty acids produced by plants is provided. A method of predicting the melting point of a fatty acid methyl ester blend and e.g. a method of identifying a blend suitable for biodiesels are also provided.
