The invention pertains to a radiation detection system (1), comprising: - plastics scintillators (S1-S4, S1-SN) juxtaposed in such a way as to form at least one pair of contiguous plastics scintillators; - a photomultiplier (P1-P4, P'1-P'4, P1-PN) associated with each plastics scintillator to provide an electronic signal representative of the luminous signal generated in the plastics scintillator; - a computer (2) linked to the photomultipliers and configured so as to: o detect coincidences between two electric pulses provided by the photomultipliers associated with a pair of contiguous plastics scintillators; o for each coincidence of pulses, determine the time gap between the pulses in coincidence relative to the pulse of largest amplitude taken as zero reference; o determine the number of coincidences of pulses whose time gap lies in a time gap window. |
