PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst containing substantially only a palladium noble metal component used for exhaust gas cleaning of a small size engine and a related manufacturing method and application method.SOLUTION: There is provided a catalyst containing a first layer formed on a carrier substrate and containing thermostable metal oxide and having a substantially uniform surface and a second layer formed on the first layer and containing i) an oxygen storage component with about 50 to 90 mass% of the second layer and ii) a palladium component with the amount of palladium of 0.35 to 5.30 g/L (10 to 150 g/ft) and which is a substantially unique platinum group metallic component, and having one or more improved properties.
