PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the stabilization of a projection image by, even when there occurs the unevenness of the phosphor layer of a fluorescent plate, suppressing the influence of the unevenness on the projection image while suppressing a load on control.SOLUTION: A light source unit 60 includes: an excitation light source 71 for emitting excitation light; a fluorescent plate for emitting fluorescent light when a fluorescent emission region is irradiated with the excitation light from the excitation light source 71; a driving part for rotating the fluorescent plate in a circumferential direction; a fluorescent plate temperature acquisition part (temperature sensor 102 for wheel) for acquiring the temperature of the fluorescent plate; a synchronization control part (control part 41) for synchronizing the display frequency of a display element and the rotational frequency of the fluorescent plate; and a timing adjustment part (control part 41) for adjusting the interval of the control timing of the synchronization control part by temperature acquired by the fluorescent plate temperature acquisition part. Thus, it is possible to achieve the stabilization of a projection image by suppressing the influence of unevenness while suppressing a load on control.
