PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synthesis catalyst that can be handled easily without requiring a conventional high pressure reaction in the synthesis of polycarbonate composed of carbon dioxide and an epoxide.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a novel catalyst of formula (I) and a method for the synthesis of polycarbonate using the catalyst by copolymerization of carbon dioxide and an epoxide, wherein M is Zn(II), Co(II), Mn(II), Mg(II), Fe(II), Cr(III)-X, or Fe(III)-X. |
