PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sterilizer capable of properly sterilizing the footwear of a hospitalized patient, without creation of extra work for the patient.SOLUTION: The sterilizer includes a footwear detector 1 which detects footwear placed on a predetermined position for removal of footwear adjacent to a bed, and a bed sensor 2 which detects the presence of a person on the bed. When the bed sensor 2 detects a person on the bed within a predetermined time after detection of the placed footwear with the footwear detector 1, a controller 5 activates a UV irradiation unit 3, so that the predetermined position for removal of footwear is exposed to UV rays with the UV irradiation unit 3. Only when not only the footwear is placed on the predetermined position, but also the patient rides on the bed after removal of the footwear on the predetermined position, the footwear is exposed to UV rays. Consequently the footwear is sterilized when the patient only rides on a bed after removal of the footwear on the predetermined position. Accordingly the footwear is properly sterilized without creation of extra work for the patient. |
