PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent malfunction in TV-AF control and reduce the time required for obtaining an in-focus state.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus comprises: an imaging device 106 for performing photoelectric conversion of an image of a subject formed by an imaging optical system including a focus lens 105; first detection means 113 for outputting a focus evaluation value signal showing a focusing state of the imaging optical system on the basis of the high frequency component of the output signal of the imaging device; second detection means 126 for outputting a detection signal different from the focus evaluation value signal; and control means 114 for performing first processing for obtaining information for detecting the focusing position of the focus lens on the basis of the focus evaluation value signal. The control means performs second processing for obtaining information on the focusing position of the focus lens on the basis of the detection signal from the second detection means, and performs different processing depending on the result of comparison between the information obtained through the first processing and the information obtained through the second processing. |
