1,145,476. Dehydrogenation of cycloalkanols. BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK A.G. 24 June, 1966 [26 June, 1965], No. 28371/66. Heading C2C. Cycloalkanones having at least 8 carbon atoms in the ring are prepared by dehydrogenating the corresponding cycloalkanol, or mixtures containing cycloalkanols and cycloalkanones obtained by oxidation of a cycloalkane, in the presence of metallic cobalt as the catalyst. The process is preferably carried out in the liquid phase at temperatures between 190‹ and 230‹ C. The catalyst may be supported on, for example, alumina or silica gel, and may contain up to 10% by weight based on the metallic cobalt of an activator, e.g. palladium, zinc, lead, copper, chromium, boric acid or, preferably, manganese or phosphoric acid. |
