PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-capacity, long-life battery having high input and output and a high volume energy density while ensuring the safety.SOLUTION: A lithium ion battery comprises: a group of wound electrodes arranged by winding a positive electrode, a negative electrode and a separator; and an electrolytic solution. The lithium ion battery has a capacity of 30 to less than 110 Ah. The positive electrode has: a positive electrode current collector having a width of 60-400 mm; and a positive electrode mixture applied to both sides of the current collector. The positive electrode mixture contains a mixed active material which includes a lamellar type lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt complex oxide (NMC) and a spinel type lithium-manganese oxide (sp-Mn). The positive electrode mixture is applied to each side by a quantity of 175-250 g/m. The thickness t of the positive electrode mixture, and the length L of the current collector in its longitudinal direction satisfy the following relation: 5×10<t/L<2×10. Further, in the positive electrode mixture, the proportion (NMC/sp-Mn) by weight in the mixed active material is preferably 10/90 to 60/40. |
