Disclosed is a method for automatically previewing a mail attachment. Attachment content of a piece of mail is decoded and converted into a picture format via a mail server, is inserted into the original piece of mail again, and is sent to a client to present same to a user. Also disclosed is a system for automatically previewing a mail attachment. By means of the method and system for automatically previewing a mail attachment provided in the embodiments of the present invention, a user can preview the attachment content without needing to download the attachment and completely break away from the restrictions of a browser, thereby adapting to the requirements of various mobile terminals to transceive and preview the mail.
